Historic home at the heart of a contemporary community

This leafy development comprises 55 townhouses and apartments over 4.5 acres in Dillwynnia Grove, south of Sydney. Each townhouse has a garage accessed via a common driveway, in addition to ample visitor parking, across 2 basement levels.

The proposed mechanical ventilation system had minimal room to fit around stormwater pipes, as well as complications trying to squeeze supply ducts into individual garages. Desanco was engaged to provide a Performance Solution to optimize the system, resulting in the following benefits:

• Reducing the amount of ducts in Basement 1 by 40%, and in Basement 2 by 55%

• Eliminating the need for a mechanical supply system in Basement 2

• Lowering the required air flowrates by 50% for Basement 1, and 43% for Basement 2

The final optimized design revealed significant reductions in supply & exhaust flowrates, and subsequently allowed substantial savings in ductwork quantities and fan sizes.
